APPLICATION INFORMATION
Applications for Graduate and Graduate Non-Matriculated students are submitted electronically through the Graduate School. Once there, you will need to create a new applicant profile, select your application type (graduate or graduate non-matriculated), and choose "Civil & Environmental Engineering - MS in Civil Engineering (online)" as the graduate program. You will be required to pay a nonrefundable application fee that is not credited against any other fees charged by the University. If the application fee is not received, the application will not be reviewed by the Admissions Committee.
In addition, depending on application type, certain materials may have to be submitted by mail to the Civil Engineering department and/or the Graduate School.
Online Application Materials
The following content must be submitted in the online application by all applicants:
- Statement of purpose
- Unofficial transcript (used for preliminary application review only; official transcripts also required)
Graduate applicants must also submit:
- Recommendations
While completing the online application, you will enter the email addresses of the individuals who will write your letters of recommendation. We strongly encourage you to use this online process. Immediately after you enter your recommender contact information online, they will be sent an email directing them to a secure website. From there they can choose to submit their letter online, or via postal mail. At least one letter should be from a faculty member at the last school you attended as a full-time student (unless you have been out of school for more than five years). Substitutions for faculty recommendations may include work associates or others who can comment on your academic potential for graduate work. You will be notified if any of your letters are not received.
If a recommender chooses to submit the recommendation letter via postal mail, it is your responsibility to provide them with the Report on Graduate Applicant form, which needs to be submitted with the letter in a signed, sealed envelope. The form is available at: http://www.ce.washington.edu/programs/prospective/grad/forms/GradRef.pdf.
